Nuke 11.2 includes updates to the UI, dramatically speeding up tasks artists do multiple times a day. We’ve made a raft of improvements to the tab menu, making it faster to find and add nodes to a script, including an improved search that enables artists to find any node with three or fewer characters, and the ability to favorite commonly used nodes. Great for adding user knobs to LiveGroups and Gizmos, we’ve created a new interface allowing you to drag parameters between nodes, reducing the clicks needed to add a knob from an average of 7 to just 3.
NUKE STUDIO will give users the ability to do VFX, editorial and finishing in one single application and will be available later this year. This brand new tool extends the existing NUKE product line and draws on The Foundry’s existing powerful compositing, conforming and shot management technology, as well as adding a host of new features and functionality.

File localization system improvements
The Nuke family’s localization system has been updated to provide more granular control over when and which files are localized; while also introducing more visual cues to showcase the status of localized files, for a more intuitive experience.
The Python API has been extended to allow developers to set system modes and localization policies programmatically. The API also provides the ability to set localisation priority, apply policies based on read node type, and remove localised files according to specific criteria.
Visual script diagnostics
Nuke’s performance profiling tools are now accessible within the UI, making it easier for artists to profile their scripts and identify areas possible areas for optimisation. The new Profile node captures performance data for all upstream nodes and displays the results visually in a user-friendly panel. Profile data can be easily exported and viewed in another session of Nuke without the need to load the script or reprofile.

Expanded source clip properties in Nuke Studio
- Properties for source clips in the Nuke Studio and Hiero timeline have been extended to offer more consistent properties with Read nodes in Nuke and create more efficient workflows across the Nuke Family.
- New Sorting – we have introduced a new way to arrange your project bin alphabetical or by custom order. This is accessible through the new buttons at the top of the Project panel and it has controls for the hierarchy view and on the bin view independently.
- Improved Searching – we have also improved the search functionality on the Project panel and on the spreadsheet with new options to search all metadata or not, and to use all or any of the input string.
- Poster Frame – a new poster frame functionality allows you to set the poster frame for your source clips and shots. You can set it for single or multiple source clips using absolute or relative frames, which is useful when you have shots with slates or black handles.
- Color Assignments – you can now assign colors to your source clips, shots, and spreadsheet events. You can also set colors based on file types
